What is CEPH?

Ceph (pronounced /ˈsɛf/) is an open-source distributed storage solution in information technology. Its core component is “RADOS” (“reliable autonomic distributed object store”), a highly scalable, distributable object, block, and file storage system that is redundant across any number of servers.

How does data distribution work?

This cluster uses an algorithm called CRUSH (Controlled Replication Under Scalable Hashing). This ensures that all data is distributed evenly throughout the cluster. Furthermore, the cluster nodes (nodes) are capable of receiving data quickly. There is no central bottleneck in this system.
