What is DevOps?

DevOps is composed of the terms “Dev” (Development) and “Ops” (Operations). DevOps refers to an approach that improves collaboration between the IT departments of Software Development and IT Operations, involving people, processes, and technologies. The goal is to more closely integrate development and operations processes to deliver software more efficiently.

Goals and Principles

This culture promotes short development cycles, a high degree of automation, and continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of software (Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery/Deployment). By using shared tools, standardized processes, and an open feedback culture, silos between development and operations are broken down. This leads to higher productivity, faster releases, and improved software quality, while maintaining stable and reliable IT systems.
