A local internet breakout refers to an internet access point in geographical proximity to the user’s location. These access points allow traffic from branch offices and remote locations to be routed directly to the internet via a local provider.
Local internet breakouts are thus a type of network architecture in which data traffic is directed from a location straight to the internet instead of taking a detour through a central data center. This reduces latency and relieves central networks, as the traffic bypasses the detour.
