What is Mobile Device Management (MDM)?

Mobile Device Management (MDM) is a centralized solution for managing mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops within organizations. It specifically aims to securely integrate these devices into the corporate network and protect sensitive data from unauthorized access. It enables the inventorying of all devices, allowing them to be managed similarly to desktop computers.

Benefits

Mobile Device Management (MDM) offers numerous benefits for companies: it protects sensitive information from third-party access and increases efficiency through optimized device functionality for corporate applications. At the same time, it enables the flexible integration of various mobile endpoints and platforms.

MDM Functions

Through MDM, companies can centrally deploy and manage software and security policies. This allows applications and updates to be distributed efficiently while unwanted apps are blocked. Another aspect is data protection through encryption and password prompts. Should a device be lost, the company can remotely wipe data to minimize security risks.

Extensions

MDM can be extended through Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM). EMM provides additional functions such as Mobile Application Management (MAM) and Identity and Access Management (IAM). These extensions offer an even broader spectrum of security and management options.
