With the official groundbreaking ceremony on June 15, 2026, firstcolo commenced construction of the new FRA7 data center in Rosbach vor der Höhe. Numerous guests from politics, business, and associations attended the launch of one of the most significant infrastructure projects for AI and cloud computing in Hesse.
Together with representatives from politics, business, associations, customers, partners, and employees, we celebrated the official groundbreaking ceremony for our new data center FRA7 on June 15, 2026. The event marks the beginning of a pioneering infrastructure project, with which firstcolo is investing around 250 million euros in Germany’s digital future.
Among the special highlights of the day were the presence of the Hessian Minister for Digitalization and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus, the speeches by our guests, and the first-time presentation of the 3D visualization of the future data center immediately before the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony.
With a planned total capacity of 24 MW, a next-generation data center is being built in Rosbach vor der Höhe, specifically designed for cloud, AI, and high-performance computing applications. The infrastructure enables power densities of up to 200 kW per rack and relies on modern liquid cooling technologies.

In addition to the official program, the event offered ample opportunity for personal discussions and networking. We were particularly pleased with the consistently positive feedback from our guests, partners, and employees, as well as the excellent atmosphere throughout the entire event.
Another highlight was the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, which collectively marked the start of the new data center. It symbolizes the beginning of a project that will sustainably strengthen Germany’s digital infrastructure and make an important contribution to digital sovereignty.
FRA7 Groundbreaking Aftermovie: The Kick-off for our 24 MW AI Data Center
FRA7 not only stands for additional data center capacities. The project combines powerful digital infrastructure with a clear focus on sustainability. Plans include operation with 100 percent certified green electricity, an aimed PUE value of less than 1.2, and the free provision of the resulting waste heat to the town of Rosbach vor der Höhe for a period of at least 20 years.
In approximately one and a half years, a state-of-the-art, AI-ready data center will emerge from the current construction site, offering companies a powerful foundation for cloud, AI, and HPC applications. Together with our ARGE partners SPIE and Lupp, we are thus creating an infrastructure that combines technological performance, energy efficiency, and future viability.
