Story

In 2007, firstcolo captured the spirit of the times as demand for highly available and secure data center solutions rose sharply. With a team of proven IT experts who immediately identified and implemented customer needs, firstcolo laid the foundation for a forward-looking IT infrastructure that enables companies to achieve sustainable success.

Mission

We ensure that the digital society runs smoothly by providing highly available and secure IT infrastructures. Our goal is to offer companies of all sizes the reliability and performance they need to keep their mission-critical websites and applications running around the clock.

Vision

We want to help shape a digital world in which IT infrastructures not only deliver the highest performance and availability, but are also designed to be sustainable and resource-efficient. We want to provide companies with a robust and environmentally friendly foundation on which they can drive their growth forward safely and responsibly.

Awards and recognitions

In September, firstcolo was delighted to receive two awards: At the Grand Prize for SMEs of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation, we were honoured as a finalist for Hesse. A few days later, firstcolo received the German Datacenter Talents & Impact Award 2025 at the German Datacenter Conference in the category “Sustainability & Green Data Centers”.

New data center in Frankfurt, investor Cube comes on board

The new R3 data center at the Hanauer Landstraße site is opened. Data center capacities are expanded at the Werkhaus site. Acquisition by infrastructure investor Cube Infrastructure Managers (“Cube”) and rebranding as firstcolo GmbH.

Certifications and capacity expansion

The data center service provider is recertified in accordance with ISO 27001:2013 and both data center sites in Frankfurt are certified in accordance with ISO 9001. The capacity of the firstcolo backbone is expanded to 1,500 Gbit/s. Development of the redundancy site in Zurich and a PoP in Frankfurt.

Rebranding and PoP site in Munich

In 2020, the company is rebranded as diva-e Datacenters GmbH. In Munich, the first PoP (Point of Presence) is established.

Capacities are expanded

The data center service provider firstcolo expands the capacity of its backbone to 1,000 Gbit/s. The setup and productive commissioning of the firstcolo OpenStack cluster are implemented.

Certification as a Tier 3 data center

The firstcolo data centers in Frankfurt am Main are certified by TÜV Süd as a “Tier 3 data center”.

TÜV certification and merger

firstcolo receives TÜV Rheinland certification in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001:2013. First Colo GmbH merges with Accelerated IT Services & Consulting GmbH under the parent company diva-e.

New partners and Deloitte Fast 50 Awards winner

Merger with five e-business service providers for digital value creation to form diva-e. Cooperation partnership with Proxmox. Once again, firstcolo is a winner of the Deloitte “Fast 50” Award.

Capacity expansion and Deloitte Fast 500 Awards

At the AOC site, the capacity of the power infrastructure is expanded. This year, the data center service provider firstcolo is a winner of the Deloitte “Fast 500” (EMEA) Award.

Once again a Deloitte Fast 50 Awards winner

In 2014, firstcolo once again receives the Deloitte “Fast 50 Awards” recognition, in particular for doubling its data center capacity. This expansion makes it possible to further extend the offering and provide even more customers with highly available IT solutions.

The first in-house data center

Construction begins on a highly available data center “AOC” in Frankfurt am Main. Opening of the company’s own data center on Kruppstraße (Frankfurt am Main).

Further development into an international carrier

By expanding the network infrastructure with strategic partnerships, firstcolo rapidly develops into an international carrier.

Founding of firstcolo GmbH

Founding of firstcolo GmbH (merger of Accelerated IT Services GmbH and “First Colo” GmbH). Consolidation and further development of the services offered.

Our locations in Frankfurt am Main

We operate the majority of our infrastructure in our in-house data centers in Frankfurt am Main: they are certified by TÜV Saarland as highly available Tier 3 data centers. This ensures flawless operation of the server systems hosted there, which our customers use either as colocation or as dedicated rental servers.
