Frankfurt, January 23, 2025. Jerome Evans, founder and CEO of firstcolo GmbH, has already made possible the construction of a total of three schools in Ghana through fundraising campaigns since 2018. Hundreds of children of various age groups have thus received a place of education in safe and modern school buildings, including hygienic facilities. In 2023, a girls’ school was established as a pilot project. The goal: to increase the number of girls who want to start school education. “Education is one of the most important prerequisites for a good, self-determined life. It was therefore important to me to implement these projects with the help of Madamfo Ghana e.V. and Bettina Manu-Landgrafe”, says Evans.
Improving Healthcare
The latest project aims to improve healthcare for people in a remote region of Ghana by building a hospital. For the clinic project, Evans not only donated again himself but was also able to gain numerous supporters. The originally targeted donation amount of 130,000 euros was even exceeded with the total sum of 146,150 euros now achieved. The location of the new hospital is in the hard-to-reach Dzilakorpe, a secluded community on an island in Lake Volta. The region is affected by poverty, lacking basic infrastructure and access to medical care. “To ensure medical care in Dzilakorpe, we are planning to build a health center. It is intended not only to provide basic care but also to be a vital point of contact for expectant mothers and emergencies”, explains Evans. In addition to the clinic, the organization Madamfo Ghana e.V. is also building housing for medical staff and initiating training on maintenance and hygiene measures to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project. “To save lives and improve the overall situation of the people there, this project is particularly close to my heart”, Evans concludes.
